It was a really busy week. With our half term break beginning on Thursday there was a very compressed 'mere' three days of lectures, with the excellent Ryan Gilbey, Ben Street, Jane da Mosto and Athur Wood providing an extraordinarily mixed menu of topics from the world of banking and Impact Investing, the history of Cinema, a look under the bonnet of the Art World and How to Revive Venice's chances of surviving as a Living City
The week ended with our traditional visits to the gorgeous church of San Giovanni in Bragora and the exquisite Scuola of San Giovanni degli Schiavoni and (of course!) a group shot in front of The Lion Gate of the Venice Arsenale and then the 'Pub Quiz'
Not only did we visit these great places, but also went to Padua and were utterly entranced by Giotto and Mantegna's fantastic frescoes
Also we met, in small groups at the excellent Schiavi wine bar for some processo...Prof. Andrew Hopkins too us to see Andrea Palladio's Redentore church too
My friend Eleo Carson (adult student from 2023) and I took advantage of the Half Term break to travel to Aquilea and Grado, the 4th century main ports of the Lagoon. Amazing mosaics and ancient churches
