Every year, since the young students of the first ever John Hall Venice course boarded their trains to head back to Britain, or on to Greece, Turkey, Africa or wherever their 'years off' plans would lead them, they had vowed, it would seem, to return.
The wonderful experience had left something exceptional in their hearts, and canal water runs through their veins. Fortunately, as a student of 1978, I can get out to Venice every year, as I have the dream job!
When the small group comes back to the city where they had made lifelong friendships, they always offer a small group of the present cohort to come and have a few glasses of prosecco.
